Freedom of The Press? More like religious libel.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4670370.stm

Taken from the above link: "Reporters Without Borders said the reaction in the Arab world 'betrays a lack of understanding' of press freedom as 'an essential accomplishment of democracy.' "

I am not Islamic. I do not personally believe in Muhammad's teachings. However, this entire ordeal is ridiculous.

Here we are, criticizing the Islamic community for being outraged at Muhammad being portrayed as a terrorist. We state that the cartoon is part of Freedom of the Press. We say that the Islamic community is ignorant to the ideals of Democracy.

How about this then: I should draw a cartoon showing Jesus throwing a brick through a window of a Jewish families home. Glass shattering, a menorah clearly visible in the window, maybe even a small jewish boy standing in the window getting hit by the shards of glass. Not only would Jews be outraged by the thought of an attack on a Jewish family, but Christians would be in an uproar at the sight of Jesus being portrayed as a terrorist (yes, such a hate crime qualifies a person as a terrorist, not just bombs and destruction of buildings).

This was not Freedom of the Press. This was a direct act of hate against a specific religious group. Whoever Muhammad was (merely man or prophet), he most definately was not a terrorist. Anyone who believes such is a religious terrorist (look up terrorist in the dictionary... you will find that it does not include "Muslim" or "Islam" or "Arabic").

So do Islamic people have the right to be outraged? Absolutely. The newspaper should have to write each Islamic person a letter of apology, and any newspapers that have run the cartoons in "support" of the Danish newspaper should do the same.

What has the world come to? Now the only aknowledged acts of terrorism are those of Middle Eastern origin, while acts of terrorism against Middle Eastern people is ignored... nay, encouraged. Now I understand why Muslim fanatic groups target people like us... it appears we are targeting them as well.
